The Southern Economic Association (SEA) and the Marriott Marquis Houston will implement a range of health and safety protocols to support a safe and successful conference program.
The SEA is partnering with CLEAR to implement HealthPass+ for the meeting. All registrants will need to provide proof of vaccination for COVID-19 with full inoculation occurring at least two weeks prior to the start of the meeting (on or before November 5, 2021).
The CLEAR HealthPass+ provides a safe and secure mobile phone application for participants to upload the required documentation for entry to the conference venue. All paid registrants will receive correspondence with more information about CLEAR HealthPass+, including instructions for downloading the free app and uploading the documentation.
Registrants who forego advance certification of their health screening through the CLEAR app should allow extra time to document their compliance with the entry protocols upon arrival to the conference venue.
Registrants who do not comply with the entry protocols will not receive registration materials and will be denied access to the conference venue.
The SEA Refund Policy will remain in effect for the meeting.
Exemptions from Vaccine Requirement
The SEA will comply with all laws and executive orders regarding vaccine exemptions. Accordingly, we will issue exemptions for people requesting an exemption for a religious belief, a medical reason, including prior recovery from COVID-19, and reasons of personal conscience. All individuals seeking such an exemption should contact the SEA office for further instructions.
All attendees can be assured that persons claiming an exemption from the vaccine requirement will be required to provide the SEA with an acceptable negative COVID-19 test result upon arrival to the registration area at the Marriott Marquis Houston.
The SEA will require attendees to wear masks in all session rooms, conference meeting spaces, and hallways. Presenters may remove masks while presenting, but should remain at the podium to ensure appropriate social distancing. Participants are encouraged to bring their own masks, but the SEA will make masks available to participants at the registration desk throughout the meeting.
Marriott Commitment to Clean
Marriott International has implemented a range of policies and protocols to support health and safety at its properties. The SEA encourages attendees to review this information here: Marriott Commitment to Clean.
All general and breakout meeting spaces will be configured at reduced capacity to promote social distancing. Meeting spaces designated for conference meals will also be configured at reduced capacity. Participants and attendees must refrain from moving chairs and tables in the meeting rooms to ensure that appropriate social distancing is maintained. Marriott staff will sanitize meeting spaces frequently over the course of the meeting.
The registration fee includes continental breakfast and afternoon coffee breaks on each day of the meeting, as well as the Presidential Luncheon and Annual Business Meeting on Sunday, November 22. The Marriott Commitment to Clean website provides more details about the food service protocols that will be in place.
Continental breakfast and afternoon coffee break service will be ‘Grab and Go’. Socially distanced seating options will be available for individuals, who wish to remain in the conference area.
For the Presidential Luncheon, the SEA will require attendees to RSVP for in-person attendance at this session. A ‘Grab and Go’ option will also be available for the luncheon. Registrants who elect the ‘Grab and Go’ option will receive a ticket with the registration materials to redeem for the boxed meal.
